01 .. "Slow Chords" .. Congratulations on taking your first step! Amazing!!! This is the first lesson for a VERY important reason: before you can play those fast chord-progressions, you need to first be sure you're playing the CORRECT chords for each rhythm. There are plenty of chord-progression combinations, but in this course, we will start with the basic Guajira chord progression. This lesson consists of two one-hour lessons during which you learn the chords AND to arpeggiate those chords in timing with three different songs of various tempos! Exciting!
02 .. "Son-Montuno Tumbao" .. Of ALL the Salsa PIANO & Guitar lessons, THIS LESSON is the most-popular!! Why? It's in the title: the "Son-Montuno"! This is the most popular tumbao of all tumbaos played at festivals, parties, socials, radios - everywhere there is Afro-Cuban music (Salsa)! You will learn how to play this beautiful and amazing rhythm called "Son-Montuno"!! This lesson consists of two one-hour lessons during which you learn the chords AND to arpeggiate those chords in timing with three different songs of various tempos! Exciting!
03 .. "Practical Application" .. this AMAZING lesson consists of two one-hour sessions of applying the techniques to practical tempos and settings (this is one of the most popular AND challenging of the Salsa PIANO & Guitar lessons because it challenges you to REALLY apply the new knowledge you've acquired!! It's an AMAZING lesson that many students ask to take more than once!
04 .. "Fast Chords" .. Wow!!! You've made it!!! This is another EXCELLENT lesson during which you will learn the chord-progressions of TWO fast rhythms: the Mambo and the uptempo Son-Montuno!! This lesson consists of two one-hour sessions - and will definitely leave you feeling AMAZING as you start going through your favorite songs - and playing along to them!!!
05 .. "Octave Techniques" .. wow wow wow! This is another of the most popular of the Salsa PIANO & Guitar lessons because here - students learn the popular technique of playing chords in octaves! In other genres of music, okay - it's no problem, but when it comes to Salsa - it's one of the most sought-after techniques of pianists! This one will blow your mind! Ever seen those videos of pianists who are jamming away using their octave techniques - and you just wonder - which timing they're using and why those specific notes and chords? You will learn that in this AMAZING lesson! This lesson consists of two one-hour sessions during which you will learn how to play in octaves to three or more different songs and rhythms!
06 .. "Guajira Bounce" .. By now, you've already learned how to play the Guajira rhythm - you learned it in lesson #1. But, the "Guajira Bounce" is specifically a very, very special Afro-Cuban technique for the Guajira (or other rhythms for Cha-Cha-Cha dancing) and gives your slow-rhythm playing that special sabor - spice!!! This lesson is a one-hour class and it's a fantastic hour where you will feel like you've got the edge!!!
07 .. "Guaguancó Tumbao" .. Ever hear a song, during which the vocalist is singing about Guaguancó, but you can't understand why - and it happens in many songs? Ever had this experience?? Wow!!! THIS is a fantastic lesson but be warned: once you complete this - you will feel like you have slipped into another dimension because knowing the chord-progression and the techniques for the Guaguancó tumbao is to know the secrets behind why there are soooooo many songs during which the vocalists are singing about "Guaguancó" but the percussion isn't playing what is normally a Guaguancó!!! Once you know these secrets, another world is unlocked for you!!! Indeed, knowing how to play this rhythm changes you as a dancer on so many levels! This lesson consists of two one-hour sessions. It is not difficult but it's challenging and DEFINITELY worth it!!!!
08 .. "Assisted Practice" .. this is an open one-hour session which can be ordered at any time through the course. You can order this after each lesson or whenever you want. Most students, after they've achieved their groove, want to practice while being observed to get reassurances and tips. These are extremely popular and highly suggested! Basically, you show what you're doing - and you will get real-time adjustments to your techniques plus you will be sent different songs to challenge yourself to.
