In this program for Salsa GUIRO, the five excellent lessons are as follows:

01 .. "Hand Techniques" .. The first lesson lays down the basics of the techniques used to hold the guiro for the different common acoustics. To the surprise of many, there are different ways to hold the guiro and play it for different situations. It's EXCITING to work with this! This one-hour lesson takes you through those techniques.

02 .. "Slow Rhythms" .. Now that you've got your hand techniques down, it's time to learn how to play to the slower rhythms, in which the guiro is most-often used. But, the way the guiro is played in the Guajira is different than how it's played in the Son-Montuno - and this one-hour lesson is the one in which you will learn how to apply that flavor to your favorite songs! In this session, you will play the guiro to three different songs/tempos to test your skills!

03 .. "Practical Application" .. this AMAZING one-hour lesson of applying the techniques to practical tempos and settings helps you to master your skills. You will be challenged to play the guiro to different tempos AND different rhythms!! It's an EXCITING lesson!!!

04 .. "Fast Rhythms" .. Here is another EXCELLENT one-hour lesson during which you learn how to play to the faster rhythms, such as uptempo Son-Montuno, Mambo, Son, Guaguancó, and the standard and popular Guaracha!! This lesson is a challenge but definitely very exciting and energetic!! Though it's only one hour, many students work up a sweat with this one - where you will have three different fast-tempo songs to apply your techniques to!!

05 .. "Assisted Practice" .. this is an open hour which can be ordered at any time through the course. You can order this after each lesson or whenever you want. Most students, after they've achieved their groove, want to practice while being observed to get reassurances and tips. These are extremely popular and highly suggested! Basically, you show what you're doing - and you will get real-time adjustments to your techniques plus you will be sent different songs to challenge yourself to.
