Raquel-María
Vocalist, Composer, Producer
RAQUEL is the tremendously powerful and gorgeous voice behind the award-winning songs by La Época, such as “Vale Más” and “Verás“.
She is the brother of La Época founder Josué Joseph – and has traveled and performed with him at Salsa festivals and events in American cities including New York Philadelphia as well as in Europe, such as Budapest and Timişoara. Their father is Alfonso Panamá, who is one of the last living legends of Afro-Cuban music, Latin Jazz, and Jazz standards – and is from the generation of Buena Vista Social Club.
Raquel’s professional career began in her last years of high-school and soon after found her performing for top brass at the US Pentagon in Washington DC, during the Bill Clinton administration. Her vocal range is Lyric Mezzo and is experienced most in Pop and Afro-Cuban rhythms including Guajira and Son-Montuno.
She has collaborated with her three older brothers as well as her father; not only is she an outstanding vocalist – but is an experienced producer and composer.
